MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
Last year our theme was “Capture the Excitement” and I am pleased to tell you that in 2008, the excitement in Garden City continues.
There is a general recognition in the Valley that Garden City is on the move. With the implementation of our new comp plan, our residents and businesses are seeing first hand the potential we share as stakeholders in this community. New businesses coming in and new residential developments are providing a variety of options for our current and future residents. Our central location and easy access to great amenities make us a wonderful place to live and work.
We are also working with other agencies and groups to accomplish larger projects such as a seamless multi-use pathway that will connect Eagle and Boise through Garden City. In cooperation with the Urban Renewal Agency we will see the expansion of our 42nd Street park next to the Boys and Girls Club and we look forward to working with the Ada County Commissioners as they work through the process of determining the future of the Idaho Expo site.
I encourage you to visit City Hall or visit our website at www.gardencityidaho.org to find out more about the continuing excitement.
Mayor John G. Evans

BUSINESS REGISTRATIONS:
On February 25, 2008, the Garden City Council passed Ordinance 885-08 which requires ALL businesses in Garden City, that do not currently require a business license, to register their business with the City.
**Please note that if you already have a Garden City business license you do not need to register. Your State of Idaho license does not count as a City registration**
The purpose of this Ordinance is to maintain an accurate listing of the trades, businesses and professions located in the City to further the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Garden City.
For further information, please see Garden City Code, Title 3. For an application, please click on the Business License tab on the left and download the "Business Registration Application." Fill out the application and turn it in with the $25.00 fee. The City will then mail you a postcard showing that you have registered. You will need to keep that postcard for your records.
Garden City’s Greenbelt now has a brand new deck on the North Plantation Island Bridge thanks to Boy Scout Troup #94, Connor McCormack and his parents, Mark and Cheri McCormack, as well as the rest of the volunteers who helped to get this project completed in record time. Garden City had some very talented help from volunteers Alice Anderson and Jason and Tina Elayer during the 2008 Idaho Earth Fest with erosion repair adjacent to the Greenbelt along the Boise River. Thank you to all those volunteers for their hard work and dedication to preserving our local resources.
